Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 20, 2026 | Last Updated: July 20, 2026
Grooviq ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Grooviq Corp, a Delaware corporation, with operations based in San Francisco, California, United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Grooviq mobile application (the "App").
Information We Collect
When you create an account and use the App, we collect the following categories of information:
Account Information: Name, email address, and phone number.
Demographic Information: Date of birth, gender, relationship status, and whether you have children.
Personality Assessment Data: Your responses to our personality questionnaire, which is based on the Big Five personality model (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism). This assessment helps us form compatible gaming groups.
Game Preferences: Information about your board game interests, preferred game types, session length preferences, and gaming experience level.
Location and Event Address Information: Your city or neighborhood within our supported areas (currently the San Francisco Bay Area), used to match you with nearby players for in-person meetups. If you host an event, we also collect the venue address you provide, including any addresses you choose to save to your account (such as a home address). Addresses for private events are shared only with the people you invite and are never displayed publicly. We may expand to additional cities over time.
Content You Create: Content you post or share in the App, including posts, images, GIFs, and reactions on event Boards; messages you send to your guests as a host; event names, descriptions, and notes; potluck or bring-list selections; profile photos; and reports you submit about other users or content.
Social and Participation Data: Events you host or attend, RSVPs, table assignments, peer ratings you give and receive, connections you form with other users, and your XP and leaderboard standing.
Payment Information (Paid Events): If you join or host paid events, payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. We receive transaction records (such as amount, payment status, and the associated event and users) needed to operate the service, including refunds and dispute resolution. Hosts who enable paid hosting complete onboarding directly with Stripe and provide identity and bank account details to Stripe, not to us.
Device and Technical Information: Device identifiers, push notification tokens, and basic usage analytics necessary to operate the App and deliver notifications.
Authentication Data: If you sign in using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, we receive limited information from those providers (such as your name and email address) as permitted by your settings with those services.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Create and suggest compatible groups of players based on personality compatibility, game preferences, demographics, and location.
Operate, personalize, and improve our matching algorithm and services.
Enable social features of the App, including event Boards, host messages, peer ratings, connections, and the leaderboard.
Process payments, payouts, refunds, and payment disputes for paid events.
Moderate content and keep the community safe. We use automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to help detect content that may violate our community guidelines; flagged content may be automatically hidden pending review. Reports submitted by users are reviewed by our team.
Send push notifications and emails about events, matches, reminders, and account-related updates.
Communicate with you regarding your account or the service.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your personal data for advertising or behavioral tracking purposes.
Information Visible to Other Users
Grooviq is a social app, and some of your information is visible to other users:
Your name, profile photo, and basic profile details are visible to members of your event groups.
Content you post on an event Board is visible to the other members of that event group.
If you host an event, guests can see that you are the host; if you attend, the host and your table can see that you are attending.
The leaderboard displays your name and activity stats to other users. Your participation in private events is never displayed publicly.
Peer ratings you submit are used to form connections and calculate stats and are not displayed publicly.
Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal data. Your information is not shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
To operate the App, we use the following service providers:
Database and Backend Services: We use Supabase for secure data storage and Railway for backend hosting.
Push Notification Services: We use Firebase Cloud Messaging and the Apple Push Notification service to deliver notifications to your device.
Payment Processing: We use Stripe to process payments and host payouts. Stripe's handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
Authentication Providers: If you use Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, your authentication is processed through Apple's or Google's services in accordance with their privacy practices.
AI Services: We use Google's Gemini API to power AI features in the App, such as content moderation assistance, game-rules answers, and generated event artwork.
Email Delivery: We use a third-party email delivery service to send transactional and account-related emails.
These service providers process data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are contractually obligated to protect your information. We may also disclose information if required by law, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Grooviq.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication practices, and regular security reviews.

If you choose to delete your account, your personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days, except that we may retain: (a) transaction and financial records for as long as required by tax, accounting, and other applicable laws; and (b) records related to safety, moderation, fraud prevention, or legal disputes for as long as reasonably necessary or legally required.
