Grooviq

Community Guidelines

Effective Date: July 20, 2026 | Last Updated: July 20, 2026

Grooviq exists to bring board game lovers together for meaningful, in-person connections. Our community is built on mutual respect, shared enthusiasm for games, and the goal of making it easier to find your people. These Community Guidelines outline how we expect members to treat each other—both in the app and at events.

By using Grooviq, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.

Our Core Values

Respect: Treat every member with kindness and consideration, regardless of skill level, background, or preferences.

Authenticity: Be genuine. Represent yourself honestly and engage sincerely with others.

Inclusivity: Welcome players of all experience levels. Everyone was new once.

Safety: Look out for yourself and others. If something feels off, speak up or reach out to us.

Be a Good Community Member

Show up when you commit. When you RSVP to an event, others are counting on you. If something comes up and you can't make it, cancel as early as possible so someone else can take your spot—and if it's a paid event, cancel within the refund window shown in the app.

Be present and engaged. Put your phone away during games. Give the people at your table your attention—that's why you're there.

Welcome newcomers. If someone is new to a game, help them learn. Be patient with questions and mistakes. A welcoming table makes better memories than a competitive one.

Give honest, fair ratings. Your feedback helps us improve matching and maintain community quality. Rate others based on their actual behavior, not whether you won or lost.

Respect the venue. Whether it's a partner venue or another member's home, treat the space, its people, and its rules with respect. Clean up after yourself. If you're a guest in someone's home, act like one.

If you signed up to bring something, bring it. For potluck-style events, your table is planning around your bring-list slot. Swap or cancel it early if plans change.

When You Host

Hosting a game night means members are trusting you with their evening. As a host:

Keep your event listing accurate—location, time, games, cost, and what guests should bring.

Provide a clean, safe, welcoming space, and be there to greet your guests.

Use your host tools responsibly. Moderating your event's board and managing your guest list are part of the job.

If you must cancel, do it as early as possible so people can make other plans.

Be a Good Sport

Win graciously, lose gracefully. Celebrate victories without gloating. Accept defeats without blame or excuses. It's about the experience, not just the outcome.

Play fair. Follow the rules of the game. Don't cheat, exploit loopholes in bad faith, or manipulate less experienced players.

Keep competition friendly. Trash talk is fine if everyone's in on the joke. Read the room—if someone seems uncomfortable, dial it back.

Handle rules disputes calmly. Disagreements happen. Discuss them respectfully, look up the rule if needed, and move on. Don't let a dispute ruin the night.

Prohibited Behavior

The following behaviors will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from Grooviq:

Harassment and bullying: This includes verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, unwanted sexual advances, stalking, or any behavior intended to demean, frighten, or harm another person.

Discrimination: Hateful conduct based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

Violence or threats: Any threat of physical harm or violent behavior, whether online or in person.

Dishonesty and deception: Creating fake accounts, impersonating others, or providing false information in your profile, your event listings, or during interactions.

Spam and solicitation: Using Grooviq to advertise, sell products or services, recruit for other platforms, or send unsolicited promotional messages. Hosts charging admission for their own events through the app's payment features is not solicitation—that's what the feature is for.

Illegal activity: Using the platform to facilitate any illegal conduct, including but not limited to drug distribution, theft, or fraud.

Privacy violations: Sharing another member's personal information (phone number, address, photos, etc.) without their explicit consent. The address of a private event is shared with you in confidence—never pass it along to people who weren't invited.

Safety at Events

Grooviq events happen at partner venues and at locations chosen by member hosts, including private homes. We do not supervise events or provide on-site staff. Your safety is a shared responsibility.

Tell someone where you're going. Let a friend or family member know about your plans, especially for your first few events or your first time at a new host's place.

Trust your instincts. If a situation or person makes you uncomfortable, you are free to leave at any time. You don't owe anyone an explanation.

Drink responsibly. If alcohol is present, know your limits. Don't pressure others to drink, and be mindful of how alcohol affects group dynamics.

Look out for each other. If you notice someone being made uncomfortable or treated poorly, consider stepping in or alerting the host or venue staff.

Report concerns promptly. If something happens at an event that violates these guidelines, report it to us as soon as possible through the app or at support@grooviq.com.

Contact Sharing

Grooviq allows members to share contact information with mutual consent. Please respect these boundaries:

Only share contact information through the app's designated features or with explicit verbal consent.

Don't pressure anyone to share their contact information.

If someone declines to share their info, respect their decision without argument.

Don't share another member's contact information with third parties without their permission.

Reporting and Blocking

If you experience or witness behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it. You can:

Use the in-app reporting feature to flag a user, post, or event.

Block any user at any time—they won't be able to interact with you.

Email us directly at support@grooviq.com with details of what happened.

When reporting, please include as much detail as possible: what happened, when and where it occurred, and any other relevant context. We review all reports and take appropriate action, which may include removing content, warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.

We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith.

Consequences for Violations

We take violations seriously. Depending on the nature and severity of the behavior, consequences may include:

Warning: A formal notice that your behavior violated our guidelines, with guidance on expected conduct going forward.

Temporary suspension: Loss of access to the app and events for a defined period.

Permanent ban: Complete removal from Grooviq with no option to return.

Serious violations—including harassment, threats, violence, or illegal activity—may result in immediate permanent removal without prior warning.

Why This Matters

Grooviq was built because making friends as an adult is hard, and it shouldn't be. Board games are the excuse to get together—but the real goal is connection.

Every member of this community plays a role in making it welcoming. When you show up with kindness, patience, and a willingness to include others, you're helping build something meaningful. Thank you for being part of it.
