Yes, and most people do. Arriving alone is the normal way to arrive: the table is the group, and everyone at it came to meet new people too.
Completely. The quiz asks about your appetite for new games, beginner-friendly tables are tagged, and every game gets taught at the table. Nobody expects you to know the rules.
Your host does. At Grooviq Nights that's our host; at Open Tables it's the member running the night. Every table starts with a walkthrough of the rules, and if something comes up mid-game, the rules assistant in the app answers in seconds. Nobody expects you to arrive knowing anything.
The app is free, and every event shows its price before you join. Some Grooviq Nights are free; others have a small seat fee that holds your spot. It's how we make sure the people who say they're coming actually show up. Open Tables work the same way: their host decides, so some are free and some charge a seat fee. There are no memberships or hidden charges.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the start time and any seat fee is refunded in full. Inside 24 hours the fee isn't refunded: by then your table has been formed around you and the seat can't be refilled. Skipping a night never counts against you: you'll be matched into future tables just the same.
Find my people is an option in the app with nine questions to tell Hexy about you and how you like to play. You can browse events before signing up, and follow the joining steps shown for the night you choose.
Read who’s hosting, which games are planned, and where and when the group will meet. Check any notes from the host and ask about anything you need to know before joining. Our Safety page has practical tips for meeting and playing together.
No. Grooviq is friendship only. It's written into the community guidelines, so everyone at the table is there for the same reason. That's a big part of what makes sitting down with new people feel easy.
No. You can join and manage your tables from any browser. The web app covers Android and desktop. The iPhone app is the nicest way to carry Grooviq around, not the price of entry.
